Ben Travis: Music

World Trade Center

((c)2001 Ben Travis)
This song was written just after the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. I was going to rename it, but nothing else seemed to fit quite as well.
Every day is the same
As the one before
And I look out the window
As I cling to the floor

Can't decide how I feel
Can't decide who I am
In the midst of anger
I try to do what I can

(chorus)
And I can't remember
How it was before
And I can't imagine how it's gonna be
With people trying to live as free
And trying to end the violence with a war

So they cross off the names
Of the ones who are gone
And we all try to make
Some kind of sense of it all

Can't believe what I see
Can't believe what I hear
And I don't know if I'm angry
Or just covered with fear
[to chorus]

Well, I wish we could all see
How fragile we are
And I wish we would all say
No matter how far
Our homes may be apart
We are going to start
Living as brothers
